Plasma Vs LCD

Anyone who is currently looking to buy a flat panel television at the moment will probably be getting one doubt i.e. either to go with LCD or Plasma?

Technical wise, LCD and Plasma TVs display a big picture on thin case i.e. both are different approaches to similar result. Although technologies wise also they create completely different images, both types of TVs are thin enough to be placed virtually anywhere, and produce a picture that is crystal clear, sharp, and bright. The major difference between the two is the screen size. Most of LCD TVs have a screen that measures 30" and smaller, while plasma TVs have a screen of 32" and larger.

Wide screen plasma TVs are currently the home theatre thing but LCD the next big thing. Even though LCD’s are little more expensive than plasmas, LCD televisions give a sharper image. LCD TVs work as a result of the charging of a liquid, which is between two layers of film underneath the glass screen, and that action lights up millions of pixels.

One big difference about Plasma TV’s in general compared to LCD TV’s is the brightness of the picture as well as the response time of the moving images. Compared to LCD TV’s, Plasma TV’s are generally not so bright, but these days with so much improvement, the brightness has increased, and sometimes you can’t even differentiate between the two.

Usually, the price of a Plasma TV would be far cheaper than an LCD TV. This is due to the cost of producing the LCD display panel and the quality of the LCD display itself. Although in general the Plasma TV’s resolution is not as good as an LCD TV’s, it can still produce very sharp images compared to CRT TV’s with the help of various technology.
